To enhance the ability of universities to provide and support a range of high-quality education abroad opportunities for their students.

Since 2005, Atlas Training and Education Services, Inc., has offered universities our knowledge and support to arrange quality study abroad programs. Today, ATES is actively seeking new educational partners. If you would like to discuss what ATES can do for your university, contact us.

Michael D. Fels, Ph.D., President

Michael Fels has worked in a variety of educational institutions for forty years as a teacher, counselor and: Job Corps teacher/counselor; rural elementary school principal/teacher; special education administrator; community college professor and counselor; and university administrator. His own education is as multifaceted as his career: B.A. in Anthropology at U.C., Berkeley; M.A. in Psychology at Sonoma State University; and Ph.D. in Communication Studies at The University of Texas at Austin.

For twelve years, Michael served on the Board of Directors of the Beverly Hospital in Montebello, California; as Chairman for six. He was an active member of the Rotary Club of East Los Angeles and chaired the Southern California/Northern Argentina chapter of the Partners of the Americas (Socias de las Americas). He has been acknowledged for his work on behalf of international education and was honored to receive a Fulbright award.

In 2005, Michael founded Atlas Training and Education Services, Inc. (ATES), which helps young people experience new cultures and ways of life through the process of living, studying and working abroad. Currently he also chairs the Board of Directors of the Coast Hills Community Forest, a non-profit, environmental organization in Sonoma County, California and is an active member of the Rotary Club of Sebastopol Sunrise.

When he is not engaged in the business of ATES, community service, or being with his children and grandchildren, Michael writes short fiction, memoirs and plays. He divides his time between the town of Sebastopol, California, and a small farm in the Coastal Hills of western Sonoma County.
